Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software’s cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system. The implementation will extend iCargo’s capabilities across PAL’s domestic and international cargo operations. IBS Software will support the carrier’s modernisation programme with capabilities intended to cover PAL’s full range of business functions.

iCargo will support cargo movements across both domestic and international operations. For international shipments, the platform is intended to support customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement, and regulatory compliance. IBS Software said iCargo already supports carriers with the same combination of domestic and international demands, providing the flexibility, scale and capabilities needed to manage both.

The planned transition is intended to address key operational requirements, including system performance and data analytics. It is also expected to support faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility, while reducing manual intervention and enabling more efficient processes.

Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, described the initiative as an important step in the modernisation of the airline’s cargo business. He said PAL needs a system that increases visibility and improves operational efficiency as it grows across its domestic and international network, and that iCargo is seen as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.
